WHAT WE DO
Musically, SHIM BLR reimagines tradition by evolving classical Dhol Tasha rhythms through improvisation and fusion with other Indian folk forms and selective Western influences, creating original compositions built on complex polyrhythms inspired by progressive music styles—a rare and forward-thinking approach within the Dhol Tasha ecosystem that defines its distinct sound. The troupe primarily performs during major festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Gudi Padwa, Janmashtami, and culturally significant occasions including Shivjayanti and Rajyabhishek Tithi, while also expanding into corporate events, public showcases, and curated flash performances where the art form and its protocol are respected. Beyond the stage, Shivmalhaar actively sustains and grows the culture by conducting structured workshops and training programs for societies and groups interested in learning Dhol Tasha or forming new troupes (Pathaks).

Shivmalhaar believes that tradition survives not by repetition alone, but by responsible evolution. Every rhythm we play carries intent discipline in practice, honesty in performance, and respect for the art form.
PERFORMANCES
Since its debut, Shivmalhaar has been warmly embraced by Bengaluru, a city known for its cultural openness and diversity. During Ganesh Utsav 2025 alone, the troupe received over 40 performance inquiries and delivered more than 1,600 minutes of live performances across 11 venues in five days, powered by 42 performers and volunteers, with memorable engagements at Prestige Lakeside Habitat, Nikoo Homes, House of Hiranandani, Assetz Marq, and more. Entering 2026, the Shivmalhaar family has grown to 92 Shimmers, and its journey has expanded beyond Bengaluru with performance requests from cities such as Hyderabad, Davanagere, Raichur, Mysore, and Patiala. The troupe has opened major public events, including a sporting showcase at Nexus Vega City Mall, Bengaluru, stepped confidently into the corporate space with performances for Amazon and IBM, collaborated with Mast Marathi Restaurant and fellow Bengaluru troupes, and delivered curated flash performances at Vakil Satellite Township and Bayalu Basveshwara Temple. With a growing audience, strong digital presence, and rising demand for curated performances, Shivmalhaar continues to carve a distinctive place in India’s contemporary Dhol Tasha movement.
